SOLD-Contender is a handsome 2008 bay gelding. He is by Artie Schiller and out of Flight of Time and has a very nice pedigree. Contender is grandson to El Prado and has Danzig, Halo, Polish Numbers and Northern Dancer on his sire and dams side. He is 16.2 hands and has lots of presence, athleticism and charm.  Contender is lightly raced and last ran in January 2012. Contender is being retired sound but has a bone spur in his left knee. It is cold, causes him no problems and he is sound. His trainer has decided that instead of racing him he would be best suited for a new career. Contender is a very sweet, gentle and personable horse that is quiet and has good ground manners. His trainer says he has a good mind, wants to please and has no vices. Contender would be suitable for any discipline except his trainer wants him to avoid any high impact sports. He would be best suited for dressage, pleasure and as a low level hunter/jumper.  We believe that with some additional schooling and time away from the track that Contender could excel in a new career.
