CANTER Colorado is giving horses a Jump Start!
Colorado is launching the Phase II program where CANTER assumes ownership of retiring raceshorses donated to the program. In order to fully care for and retrain these horses that will be sold into new homes, we need your help! Please consider a donation to help us launch this successful and rewarding program!

THE LISTING PROGRAM
For Prospective New Buyers:
Buying a retiring racehorse is an exciting event. We encourage you to contact the trainers or owners directly for any horse you may be interested in. During the racing season, you may go and view the horses on the backside of Arapahoe Park to aid you in your purchasing decision. Please follow these simple rules for operating on the backside of the track and to further protect the CANTER organization and it's partnerships with the park.
1. Under NO circumstances are you allowed to ride a horse for sale at the track. Riders with only the proper licensing are allowed to mount a horse at the track. Trainers may extend you an offer to ride the horse in order to close a sale more quickly, however, this violates strict policies at the Park. It puts Arapahoe Park, your safety, and the CANTER program at risk. Please enjoy your experience with the trainers and horses from the ground only.
2. If you schedule an appointment with a trainer to view a horse, please honor that committment or follow up with plenty of notice to reschedule. We want all parties involved who engage in using CANTER services to have a postive experience.
3. Please be sure to familarize yourself with the proper process in buying a horse in the state of Colorado including vetting any horse prior to purchase, transfer of all paperwork between owners, registration papers, and Colorado branding laws.
How to list a horse with CANTER Colorado:
Volunteers are on the grounds every weekend during the meet to take photographs and information on any horse for sale at Arapahoe Park. You can schedule an appointment or stop them on the grounds in order to get your horse listed. Volunteers may also be willing to make personal farm visits for horses not stabled at the track. Trainers and owners can also send pictures and information directly to Jamie or Corey if none of the options listed above work.
Please note: Horses eligible for listing on the site must be a Thoroughbred, Quarter Horse, or Arabian that is currently racing or has recently raced at Arapahoe Park. The maximum listing price for CANTER Colorado is $3199 (less than the lowest claiming price at Arapahoe) and may differ from other CANTER affiliates.
Please contact Jamie Girouard at email@example.com or 773-550-9866 or Corey Kaye at firstname.lastname@example.org or 970-227-2686 for more information on how to list horses available for adoption in Colorado.
