Stella is pretty much the most perfect specimen of a sporthorse mare we've ever met. This chestnut mare has a trot that leaves our jaws on the floor, and a canter to match. She is a 7 year old, clean-legged, sound and spectacularly-brained mare who loves a job and is very trainable. This...

CANTER Mid Atlantic has some BEAUTIFUL clothing for sale that is riding and barn friendly and super sharp looking! Look your best at the barn and support CMA in it's mission to help more horses. Currently available:
3 Season Jacket
that is Breathable, Water and Wind Repellant. The cut of this jacket is beautiful and made of the same materials that you would find in Under Armour gear. Convenient cell phone pocket on the sleeve. The best part? shavings, hay and horse hair all fall away so you can go straight from the barn to dinner out and not look like one of those "Barn Girls".
Have you checked out CMA's available horses? If taking a horse straight from the track is an intimidating thought, but you'd still like to have an OTTB, CMA's restarted horses are an easy answer! All CMA horses have been let down for a minimum of 3 months, have had professional training for a minimum of 30 days and often more than 60 days. They are all trail ridden, ridden in the ring, started over jumps
CANTER Mid Atlantic blogs have been a smashing success as indicated by our thousands of visitors. In an effort to chronicle the ups and downs of Thoroughbred Retraining, we have several people who have volunteered to write about their day-to-day experience with individual horses. This has proven to provide a wonderful learning opportunity for the Thoroughbred-buying public, as well as being an amazing opportunity for our horses. Our goal to bring each horse from the racetrack to recognized competition has been going swimmingly, and we love the support along the way. If you haven't read the blogs, we hope you will, and join in on the journey.
Five Star Tack, makers of beautiful English-made bridles and strap goods recently began a "Bridles with Benefits" program, of which CANTER has been selected as a recipient. We cannot thank Ms. Greene enough for selecting our group! Read more about the BWB program here.
CANTER Mid Atlantic, like everybody, is feeling the crushing effects of today's economy. CANTER Mid Atlantic is funded solely by the kindness of people who believe in our mission. Nearly 70% of our funding comes from donations that are under 50$, so you can see that indeed, every dollar makes a difference. Please consider donating even $5.00 towards caring for Thoroughbreds who were not lucky enough to be successful at the racetrack. Payments can be made directly to the organization through our Pay Pal link, Donation Address or directly to our Veterinarian. (Please contact CANTER if you'd like to send payment to vet). All donations go directly toward the care of Thoroughbreds until they find a new home.
