Veterinarians for Racetrack Prepurchase Exams:
Steven Weeks, DVM, Great Lakes Equine Practice (Trackside) X-rays taken and mailed to your vet for interpretation. Appointment necessary, call 231-798-2898.
West Michigan Veterinary Service (Dr. Ira, Dr. Visser, and Dr. Nelson) will do pre-purchase examinations if the horse is brought to their clinic (20 minutes from the track). This requires a scheduled appointment in advance AND requires that you have horse transportation and the permission of the racehorse trainer to remove the horse from the track for the examination.
