CANTER owned Mare, "Little Orphan Annie" was so named when she was rescued from an abusive and neglectful owner. When Annie came to us she was malnourished, covered in manure, badly in need of some hoof care, and infested with lice. After a few weeks of TLC and some groceries, Annie has made a 100% turn-around. She is estimated to be around 20 years old, and has been used extensively as a broodmare. She is a dark bay with a star. While she can't be used as a broodmare anymore, she would make a great companion animal or light riding horse. She has moon blindness in her right eye, but sees well from her left eye. She's not for an inexperienced horse person as she has some trust issues with new people. However, given some time and some groceries she warms up quickly. Annie likes to be groomed and payed attention to, and is just in need of a forever home. Annie is being fostered near Muskegon.

For more information on this horse, contact her foster parents, Karen or Phil, (231) 894-9672, and cell is (231) 343-9616.

Former CANTER horses need a new home!

Due to circumstances beyond their control, Larry and Annie need to find "Jungle Star" and "North Avenue" a new, loving home. They have been part of their family for the past 5 years. While it is one of the hardest things they have ever had to do, it is best for all of them.

"Jungle Star" is a 14 year old black bay TB gelding standing at 16 plus hands. He likes to be the alpha horse in the pasture but pastures well with others. He has undergone light training in the past year and has been under saddle during that time. He will not cross-tie but will single tie easily. He has soft eyes and a good temperament. With additional training and an experienced rider, he should make a great trail or pleasure horse.

"North Avenue" is a chestnut, 17 hands, ten year old thoroughbred who is deaf. While North Avenue can be ridden, he 'spooks' due to his deafness. He is not 'a Sunday Afternoon Ride' in that a rider can not let down their guard while riding him. He had 30 days of training put into him in December 2007 and did very well. He will make a good pleasure horse for the 'right' rider or a great pasture buddy. He loves to pasture with other horses. He is of good temperament and has very soft eyes.

Located in Edwardsburg, Michigan. A loving home is required and those interested must complete a CANTER adoption approval application. Because a good home is most important, NO price has been determined. Any monies received for the horses will be donated to CANTER so other TB's may be helped. Please contact Larry or Annie Slessman at 269-663-6096 or 574-850-3876.
