For order information call:231-242-1156 or email thecathy@tm.net

This children’s book was inspired by actual events! “Artie” is a real CANTER ex-racehorse, Arctic Course, who was adopted by Ariel Christy. Part of the sales of this 32 page book with color illustrations will be donated to CANTER. $7.95 plus shipping and handling.

Arctic Course retired from racing after suffering bone chips in his knees. He was donated to the CANTER program and received surgery to repair his injury.

He was adopted by Ariel Christy and the two now compete in dressage. For Artie’s sixth birthday, Ariel threw him a party. She invited everyone from Artie’s life including his racing owners, his racing trainer and even his former jockey!

Everyone came to his party including people from Michigan State University, CANTER, stablemates!

Become a Mid Atlantic Volunteer!

CANTER Mid Atlantic could not possibly survive without the dedication and perseverance of our hardworking volunteers. Thanks to them, we are able to continue on and help owners and trainers place their Thoroughbreds in loving homes. We are always looking for volunteers to visit the track, help with buyers and network in the Horse community.

For a description of Volunteer duties, please visit our CANTER group site. Check out some of our Volunteers in action!

FOSTER Homes Needed

CANTER Mid Atlantic is trying to pull as many horses off the track as possible, but we need your help. We are full to the gills and need foster homes in the Mid-Atlantic area that can take horses on short notice. If you can help, please email us.

Volunteers Needed

CANTER Mid Atlantic is looking to fill some volunteer positions at the racetrack. If you have one Saturday free a month to dedicate to assisting racehorses find new homes, and are comfortable with viewing hundreds of gorgeous horses each time without taking them all home, we've got the job for you! Email us today to find out when our next trip is. Sorry, but we can only take folks who are 18 or older due to track regulations.
