DIXIELAND MAN
Dixieland Man is a gorgeous lightly raced 16.3h 7 year old that was purchased by one of our volunteers at the end of Beulah Park's race meet in May. With only 6 weeks off the track (!), here he is giving a ride to a young admirer. Dix recently went to his first horse show and placed 4th and 5th in the future hunters class. Dix is an easygoing horse with a very bright future ahead of him!

As we did last year, we will track our income from all sources in 2008, so that ALL can see where we stand in raising funds needed to care for our horses. We must raise $27,750 EVERY quarter ($9,250/mo.) to fund our operations. This is our income from all sources to date in 2008:

INCOME RAISED THROUGH 5/16: $44,432.94
CURRENT SHORTFALL: $11,067.06

SmartPak Equine generously donated a $100 gift certificate to CANTER Ohio for a vial of Legend for our 10yo ex-racer, Day Bue. In March he underwent surgery to have chips removed from both front ankles and was recovering well when he unexpectedly developed a bone infection in his right ankle. This was dire news as bone infections are very difficult to treat and often fatal. After diagnostic tests and a month-long treatment with a potent antibiotic, Day Bue is now doing very well. He's been off the antibiotic for 3 weeks now, and it appears that he beat the infection! The vet has given us the OK to start turning him out gradually. We have been very touched by the donations and well wishes that we've received for Day Bue. He has become something of a legend in his own time among our volunteers and the FOB's! Be sure to check out our Facebook page for more details about this absolutely loveable veteran. He is a character! Please keep Day Bue in your thoughts that he continues to do well and finds a loving forever home.
